The group performing to a full house at Dominic's!

Candice and her exceptional quintet returned to Dominic's for a third "Divas' concert featuring the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Billy Holiday plus other great jazz divas.

Candice and her group made the great old standards come alive. We have watched Candice for several years now, growing from a talented teenage singer into a mature female vocalist with a great range and mature nuance to her great style.

She was right on with her renditions and so was her band. The crowd at Dominic's really got into the performance and it made for a very special afternoon of jazz. Kudos to Abel Mireles on sax, Arath Corral on guitar, and the smooth sound of David Rodriguez on bass. Keeping everthing tight and together was the always classy sound of Ricky Malachi on drums. With this caliber of group it's no wonder that a recent "Vanity Fair" article (3/26/09) declared the music scene in El Paso is getting ready to rival Austin as the "Best Little Music City in Texas". Gotta love it. - Kenneth Vaughan
