Abel Mireles is rapidly gaining a reputation as one of this region’s promising jazz artists with an extraordinary talent. Born in Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico and raised in Juarez, Mexico, he studied at the famed Academia Municipal de Artes. Then, continued his music studies from a list of distinguished jazz performers and educators including: Eddie Gomez (Master Class), Dino Govoni (Berklee), Bruce Sanders (Berklee), Bernardo Hernandez (Berklee), Brad Leali (UNT), Marco Pignataro (Conservatory of Puerto Rico), Rafael Alcal (Berklee), Mack Goldsbury (El Paso Conservatory of Music), Dr. Don Wilkinson (UTEP), Erik Unsworth (UTEP), Curt Warren (UTEP), Ruben Gutierrez (UTEP) and others. In a short time, Abel’s illustrious career has taken him on the stage with many greats including: Adrian Terrazas, The Maya Resort of Acapulco Big Band, Eklectic Big Band, UTEP Lab Band, Erick Unsworth, Curt Warren, Ricky Malichi, Ruben Gutierrez, Billy Townes, Border Roots, Candice Reyes Quintet, Manny Flores Group, Little Joe y La Familia, Jose Jose and others.
